enteo PC Lifecycle - OS Deployment

Automated provision of operating systems with enteo v6 OS Deployment allows you to save valuable time, eliminate sources of error, and achieve greater flexibility due to hardware independence. Using rule-based assignment and company-wide distribution, enteo v6 OS Deployment enables the complete end-to-end implementation of operating system installation across the whole company, including remote company sites with a narrowband connection—even at night or on weekends.


enteo v6 automatically assigns the correct start environment (DOS, Linux, Windows PE 32- or 64-bit) for installing the desired operating system. And with enteo v6, you are already ready for Windows Vista. When using enteo v6 OS Deployment to package operating systems, the newly developed Software Factory including Packaging Workbench is at your disposal to dramatically speed up the whole OS packaging process. Thanks to its integrated driver repository, even the most complex drivers (plug & play, mass storage) can be imported and be made available for company-wide installation in a matter of seconds. Furthermore, enteo v6 OS Deployment is embedded in the enteo v6 product portfolio, ensuring seamless integration in existing desktop and server management systems.
 

System Requirements

DHCP Server

  • The use of enteo v6 OS Deployment requires a DHCP server.

  • Microsoft DHCP Server:
    The OSD setup can automatically configure an existing Microsoft DHCP server if the corresponding IP ranges (scopes) have already been defined.

  • Other DHCP Servers:
    To ensure that OSD supports your non-Microsoft DHCP server, this must support the following four CustomOptions: 43, 60, 128, 129.
    The options contain the IP address of your OSD server for redirecting computer queries.

Note:
Novell DHCP servers are not supported.

OSD Client
A network card that is supported by the OSD proxy has to be installed on the client and connected to the network.

OSD supports all the commonly used network cards. If your network card is not supported, please contact enteo support.
